Caileigh's Peppa Pig Birthday

7:30 PM

Caileigh turned three this month!!! We know how much she loves Peppa Pig so we threw her a party to celebrate her day.

Peppa Pig is just like any other toddler. Playful, curious, and often most of the time, a little naughty. She has her Mommy Pig, Daddy Pig, and a little brother called, George. She goes to playschool with other anthropomorphic animal friends. She's the closest with Suzie Sheep and Rebecca Rabbit. It's a British show and Caileigh just loves listening to how they speak. At some point, she has called me her Mommy Pig, and has made numerous references to the show like how she'd love to eat chocolate cake because it's Daddy Pig's favorite and saying "not very well" as Peppa said when she had the flu. I can go on all day telling you stories how much Caileigh loves Peppa Pig. (She has a set of Peppa Pig knickers and always wears them first)

This is actually our first time throwing a big party for her. When she turned one, my mum threw a party at home and made her a very lovely cake. Last year, we booked an event at Jollibee because we were a bit busy given we were both working that time. Now that I have a lot of time in my hands, we decided to DIY this party. Though we hired a supplier for the stage and ceiling drapes, balloons, and catering, we made the other elements ourselves. CJ even insisted on making the Piñata.

The original backdrop that we had was sadly, a disaster. We were supposed to have a 3D mock of the Pig family's iconic yellow house but it was not delivered properly so we opted to use the tarpaulin that was supposedly for the make-shift photo booth instead. Always have a plan B, mommies!

Peppa Pig Cake

We had two cakes. One was a gift (along with the cupcakes) from The Frosting Gallery and the other one was a customized 2-Layer cake from The Cake Room.

We had fun making these cookie pops! They are Oreo's dipped in white chocolate and presented like cake pops. If you can spot the one fully covered in sprinkles, that's Caileigh's little masterpiece.

Peppa Pig Party

Despite all my panicking and worries of not having the "perfect" party in mind, I think it's safe to say that the party ended up a success. The kids enjoyed the games, the magician did applaudable tricks, the adults enjoyed the food and the decorations, and most of all, Caileigh did not cry during the party. Even until now, she would sometimes enumerate her friends who went or excitingly talk about the dove and the bunny that she saw during the magic show. It was definitely something for her to remember.

There's no hiding it but I am sort of feeling post party blues, if there is such a thing. I miss browsing Pinterest for inspirations and making lists of things to do. But even if planning a party is a euphoric process for me as a mother, we have decided to take a break next year. Caileigh is starting school this opening and maybe she will enjoy it more if we celebrate her birthday with her classmates at school. It would be less stressful to plan and more budget friendly. *wink*
