Siomai Night!

Despite being almost penniless, CJ and I bought ingredients for siomai. He's like making lihi for it since last week so I just urged him that we cook some for dinner this Saturday night. We bought half a kilo of ground pork but the were able to make about 30+ siomais!!!

Here are the ingredients to our humble Siomai:

2 packs Siomai Wrapper
1/2 kg ground pork
1 finely chopped carrot 
2 eggs, beaten
2 tbsp salt
1tbsp ground black pepper
1/4 cup (or less) finely copped spring onion
3 tbsp. cornstarch

Combine everything, best if you use your hands to mix the ingredients evenly then put about 1 1/2 tsp of it into wrapper. There's no special technique in wrapping it but try to have the corners meet into the middle then fold the sides into the body of the siomai. Lols, I dunno how to put it into writing. Just try to have if wrapped in any way your like :)) Cook them on a steamer for about 15-20 minutes then tadaah! You can make your sauce according to your own preference. We just squeezed calamansi into soy sauce. Anyway, hope you find the recipe useful. :)

Few last ones in the steamer! Btw, don't forget to brush a small amount of oil on the surface of the steamer so the siomai won't stick ton it. 

This puppy had about 5 pieces of siomai!
