Curious Little Kat: 2012

Not now, not yet.

Sorry if I have gone MIA lately. We were only supposed to do a follow-up test but I ended up being admitted at the hospital. We were only on our 31st week and the doctors feared that my contractions might progress and I'd have to deliver our baby prematurely - which will be a big risk considering the baby's underdeveloped physique. What we thought was a 2-day stay at the hospital turned out to be a week. I was transferred for several times from the ward to the Delivry Room for close observation and never realized the seriousness of my / our condition until the eve of our 4th day.

BUT we're very glad that everything is fine now. We even had the chance to see and confirm again our baby's gender via ultrasound and oh my, what big eyes she has!! I think we (CJ and I) were in good spirits after seeing our little Caileigh, that everything will indeed turn out fine and.

I'm home now but still on bed rest for an indefinite period of time. Might be on bed rest until we're already on term but whatever the hindrances, we'll follow everything just for the baby's safety. Guess I'll be celebrating New Year's Eve in my bed :D Anyway, here are the photos that I've managed to take during my stay at the hospital. Christ College, Cambridge

I'm supposed to be on bed rest for a week and since I don't have much to do while lying down (my mobile phone battery couldn't last a day, I tell you) I decided to play with Snapseed's new app update! They look really neat on my phone but now the quality looks a little meh. But anyway, enjoy these photos that I got from Christ College, Cambridge University - if I haven't mistaken.

In the Philippines we would call these mansions but since photography wasn't allowed inside the abbey, I took photos of their beautiful gardens - wasps and naked statues included. I also posted an earlier blog about it here.

Revisiting photos from last year. It was one of those rare moments that I was the one in front of the camera. It was a fun experience for me - though it was very awkward at first. But doing the shoot with my best friend Ameg made it a lot smoother for me. bahaha! sorry for the awkwardness.

I've been idle from blogging for quite some time. If you're following my tumblr, you probably already know why. Your curious little Kat is currently expecting! We're due on Feburuary next year so I've been spending most of my time nursing myself while the hormones are raging mad. Look Down

Last year, we went to Boracay, Philippines for a much needed vacation. We have this pouch bag where you can put stuff inside like your camera and use it underwater. Our camera lens didn't fit good with the pouch so when we took these photos some parts of it appeared to be a little distorted. I think they still look good though. I somehow adds a little mystery and the photos look trippy! hahaha! We need a proper underwater camera though. Anyhow, here are some of the photos!

Latest Works: A Little Take on Digital Painting

I got a ~~little~~ very curious with digital painting recently that I got myself a cheap pen and tablet and here are the recent illustrations that I've done so far. Honestly, I really don't know how to sketch realistic faces like this. What I do is trace on photos - hahaha! Yes, I'm that noob - and modify elements like make the eyes bigger, change eye and lip colors, and give them different facial expressions. Right now, I'm still adjusting on my pen and tablet so hopefully I can draw fine lines to make hairs! :D

Guimaras 2012

My first summer getaway for this year! The Province of Guimaras is a small island near Panay Island. I've been to the island for a dozen of times already but every trip is a different adventure. This year, instead of travelling from Iloilo, we tried commuting from Pulupandan (Negros Occidental, and an hour jeepney ride from Bacolod City) to the far end of Guimaras. I'd say the route was terribly inconvenient but for us who went out on a tight budget, it was an "okay" rather than spending extra bucks for the ferry to Iloilo.

The last time I went to Guimaras was sometime in 2011 when I went with my cousin to Guisi. This year the group decided to visit Alubihod. It is probably the most overrated place in the island. No kidding. People would sometimes think that it's the only beach to visit since Raymen's is the most popular resort in the area. But because most of us wanted to go island hopping, we chose to stay there.

bought a cheap pen and tablet last month as I've been so curious with digital painting. I can't believe I actually thought that it would be easier than drawing by hand. It took me some time to get used with the pen, my grip, my pressure, etc. perhaps the only advantage with this is the ability use ctrl + Z. hahaha! The photo above is the current one that I made. I just used the hair from my base photo because well, I still don't know how to paint haiiir :( I could still use some more work here but I'm tired as hell so..

Revisiting old photos and had the sudden urge to edit photos from last year's fun shoot (photos here and here) with Darlene, Myka, and Ameg. I love the quirky ones and decided to add PNG's on them. I hope the girls won't mind :D
There's this song that's been bothering me, in a good way, and it has the phrase "the young ones" in it but I can't seem to remember the title not the band. It was used in Gossip Girl and it has a very catchy whistling tone in the beginning. gaaaaah. EDIT: the song is "Young Folks" by Peter Bjorn and Johnand the phrase in the chorus was "young style" not, "young ones" hahaha! but whatever, enjoy this set! :)
