Woburn Safari Park II

We were passing by this road which was on a higher ground than with where the giraffes were. It was against the rules of the park to open car windows but we tried to do otherwise though so we could have a clearer view of the giraffes.

Those lashes are making them look so beautiful.

I got a photo of him/her with his/her tongue out. :)

Woburn Safari Park

Last Tuesday, my family and I went to Woburn Safari Park for my mom's 50th birthday celebration. It was a different experience for me since the whole set-up of the park was kinda opposite to that in the zoos. In Woburn, the spectators drive their cars around to safari where they would see all the animals out in to the grounds. Instead of putting the animals inside cages, they set them free into the fields and it is the humans who are rather "caged" inside their cars. Great idea isn't it?

That's an Oryx in the picture above. They are antelopes known for their long, straight, almost-upright or swept-back horns. The ones above may be East African Oryx which were considered to be facing extinction.

Tigers were placed in a different section of the safari. of course, they wouldn't place them with the deers.

It was raining when I took the photos of this bear thus the haziness of the picture.

On a much bigger section of the safari were these Lions/lioness . I was expecting for a more exciting meeting with them but all just stayed in groups and had nice naps on the grass. On this picture though, you can still see what appears to be a foot of a deer/goat that was being fed to them just a few minutes when we entered their section.

Cambridge University - King's College

Each of the Colleges in the University has its own piece of history. I wasn't really able to read through about King's before we went there. But of all the Colleges in the city, I must say that King's in the most popular because of its gothic-styled college chapel and the remarkable King's College Choir.

Inside the King's College Chapel, you could really see how intricate the interior design was from the wall and pillar carvings, the stained glasses, up to the marvelous ceiling.

The church was divided into two by this huge Church Organ that is played by the pianist on top of the wall divider.

The chapel doesn't have any altar unlike any other churches in the Philippines. Instead, it has this painting popularly known as the "The Adoration of the Magi" by Rubens grace the inner part of the chapel.

At the sides of the chapel are a series of rooms working ala museums where bits of the Church's history are being featured and a few mini-chapels for private/public prayer sessions.

Cambridge University - Christ College

Today, Peter gave me a quick preview of Cambridge's history. As he said it, "Cambridge in a Nutshell". We visited a number of Colleges from the famous Cambridge University. Mom used to tell me that Cambridge City is actually made of the University. I didn't get it at first until then that I finally knew that was she said was indeed true. Literally speaking, Cambridge's City is mostly a part of its University. Most of the land and establishments around the city are owned by the University. An example would be the mall in the picture above. Education monopolizing the whole city.

The Streets of Cambridge

On my second day here in the land of the great men and cute brick houses, my mom gave me a tour at her working place. The people there were so nice and I should mention that most of the carers were Filipinos. I'm afraid I can't talk further about my experience there in respect to the privacy of their clients.

That's the whole place. Thanks to me short height, the buildings appear to be leaning a bit forward. And I was being sarcastic, in case you didn't get it at first.

The interior made me wow.

Mom then drove me around the city and I took pictures of random buildings and things along the way.

Strawberry Picking

Right after I landed in London, we went by to this strawberry farm somewhere in Cambridge. I should have jotted the name of the farm but then again I forgot to do so. It was a new experience for me since I haven't tried doing this when we went to Baguio a few years back. I was so amused with how they planted the strawberries instead of the traditional method of growing them. The farm was a little huge but not all the rows had growing strawberries.
